100% Tempranillo, Finca San Martin is produced at the Torre de Oña property, in the Alavesa subzone. Here, La Rioja Alta, known for their ultra-traditional style of Rioja, combine their old-school class with more modern stylings. The vineyards are all grown around the winery as a ‘Chateau concept’, an experiment begun long before the current rules around single-vineyard Rioja. Younger vines, aged for a shorter period in a mixture of French and American oak, produce a plush, juicy style - with that savoury finish so typical of La Rioja Alta’s wines. Very exciting at this price point!
