Fully mature and drinking beautifully, the 2005 Volnay Vielle Vignes from Nicolas Potel opens with a burst of cherry Bakewell, dried strawberry against a backdrop of mushroom and forest floor. At 16 years old the wine still has substantial structure, surprisingly for a Volnay, but is beautifully soft and simply a delight to drink.
